Not a lot of gardening going on – I’m still setting up

Not growing much this year and what I am growing tend to be low maintenance like root crops. Might grow a cherry tomato plant or two and some peppers, Shishito and Korean Red.

The high tunnel is still just a poly film roof, no ends, no sides. Got a ton of work to do to finish it but have all the poly. I need some more chain link top rail pipe and linear actuators. I also plan on a completely new drip system. Few hundred here, few hundred there.

I’ve gone full circle on the tunnel sides. Started with bifold that hinge at the bottom and lower down to – standard roll up sides until I noticed they take four minutes to roll up to – bifold that hinge at the top and raise up and finally back to bifold that hinge at the bottom.

I planted onion sets and seed potatoes today. The Yukon Gold went in tunnel and I was in there for a few hoursĀ  and the wind was crazy. 20 mph with 40 mph gusts. Direct sowed a few Daikon radishes a couple of weeks ago and those were getting whipped around. I can only imagine fresh transplants of 8-12″ peppers/maters. They would have been bent over hard.

Yeah, bifold hinged on the bottom will protect the young-uns.

I did get to make a Field Note today for the potatoes but need to add one for the onion sets.
