Running out of 2026
Running out of time in 2026 to get things done, namely the high tunnel. I’m waiting on a good cool down to do some things. We had huge rains a couple of months ago. The good news? It washed away all the ticks. The bad news, it made ten times as many seed ticks hatch. They’re insane.
It also made grass, mad grass, in the tunnel. I got in there with the little tractor and mowed some but there’s drip line down there and I didn’t want it all wrapped around the mower blades/spindles. I need to get in with the push mower and mow a path to the drip and other items up at the top end. Then I can slide and and yank and toss everything out. Then I can get in there with the tractor again and mow it short, way short, as in mowing dirt short. Then comes the black poly to cover the whole thing. Just waiting on a cool down.
I finally got 200′ of Cat6 Ethernet cable to run from the house to the tunnel/shed. That will be tunnel shed once I build a shed attached to the NE corner of the tunnel. For now it’s the shed near the tunnel. I don’t need much to begin with. Just a roof and one or two walls will do for now. The automation control panel is a NEMA IP6 enclosure so technically it could be out in the elements. I could also mount it inside the tunnel. I’d prefer it under a roof for shade and better screen visibility though.
Need to run to Menard’s and get some more chain link top rail for drop down sides frames. As much as I hate it, I’m going to pick up some poison to deal with the seed ticks.
